When Football Doesn’t Go to Plan

22 Sep 2026

Football doesn’t always run to schedule. Matches can be postponed, kick-off times can change, games can be abandoned and, occasionally, there can be differences between what happens on the pitch and what is recorded by the sports data feed.

Because Match15 games are linked to real football, these situations can sometimes affect the games you’re playing. Here’s what you need to know.

What happens if a match is postponed?

Matches can be postponed before kick-off for a number of reasons, including bad weather, safety concerns or other circumstances outside the control of the clubs.

If a fixture connected to a Match15 game is postponed, check the game in Match15 for the latest information — where a new date and time is confirmed, this will be reflected within the game.

Because postponements can be handled differently depending on the fixture and how quickly it's rescheduled, we're not able to guarantee one fixed outcome for every postponed game. If you're ever unsure what's happening with a specific game, contact Match15 Support at support@match15.com and we'll confirm the position for you.

What if the kick-off time or date changes?

Football fixtures can be moved, sometimes well in advance and sometimes at relatively short notice.

Where possible, confirmed fixture changes will be reflected within Match15. If a change affects a game you've entered, check the game for the latest start time and information.

What happens if a match is abandoned?

If a match is abandoned after cards for that match have been sold, players' accounts will be refunded.

Matches can be abandoned for a number of reasons, including weather conditions, safety concerns or other unexpected circumstances.

How are events tracked?

Match15 uses near real-time sports data feeds to track events taking place during a match. Events recorded by the relevant feed are then reflected on players' cards.

This means that, for the purposes of a Match15 game, an event is considered to have happened when it is recorded by the relevant data feed.

What happens if an event is changed or corrected?

Occasionally, an event recorded during a football match may later be changed or rescinded by the data provider.

If the data feed records an event and it is marked off on your Match15 card, it will remain marked off even if the feed later rescinds that decision.

Similarly, if something happens during the match but isn't recorded by the relevant data feed, it won't be marked off on your card. It also won't be added retrospectively after the game has finished.

Why might an event take a little while to appear?

Match15 uses near real-time data, so there may occasionally be a short delay between something happening on the pitch and appearing within the game.

If an event hasn't appeared immediately, it may simply be waiting to be received and recorded by the relevant data feed.

What should I do if something doesn’t look right?

If you think an event hasn't been recorded correctly or something doesn't look right with your game, contact Match15 Support at support@match15.com with details of the game and what you've noticed.

Providing details of the match, your card and the event in question will help the team investigate.

The important bit

Football can be unpredictable, and occasionally that can affect Match15 too.

If a match is abandoned after cards have been sold, players' accounts will be refunded. Match15 games are determined using the relevant sports data feed, so events are marked based on what that feed records during the game.
